The ability of this deck to play defense is in fact so good that it can compete against the best control decks in the format and still have enough damage to kill them as well. Steelblade Shunt is also a fantastic defensive piece here, especially with a floating Tunic counter around.

Although we lose some of the explosive potential and defense of Courage of Bladehold, we gain the superb ability of Valiant Dynamo to shut down breakpoints all over the place. The one negative note here is there isn’t a proper Arcane barrier 1 piece outside of Nullrune clothing, which makes her gain a soft spot against those Runeblades.Ĭards such as Blade Runner and Run Through allow for Dorinthea’s Axes to swing multiple times, with her hero ability now being more difficult to block out due to it being presented twice a turn. Add in that Warriors have a solid suite of in-class defense reactions and block very well on average and you get a hero that can handle herself on both ends of the battlefield. The sheer defensive value available to the Warrior class through its equipment pieces is many times enough to win you games with timely blocking. Speaking of equipment, we can’t forget to note how powerful Dorinthea’s equipment pieces are. Courage of Bladehold is also a key piece foe the deck to have a huge offensive turn. Of course, this is all resource-intensive, so cards like Steelblade Supremacy and Glint the Quicksilver are great boons for the deck. Ideally then, if you’re picking up this archetype, the gameplay is less about doing damage with your reactions but rather just sneaking over their blocks and getting to present a second attack and the possibility of a counter. Rather, it’s the threat of those counters, and the scaling power they allow Dorinthea to access, that forces blocks from opponents. In truth, without any counters, Dorinthea doesn’t really do a large amount of damage. With Dawnblade, Dorinthea is trying to leverage her amazing suite of attack reactions to hit twice in a turn with Dawnblade and track up +1 attack counters on the weapon. If you’ve played Flesh and Blood for any amount of time, you’ll know that Dawnblade and Dori have been a longstanding pair in the game. Let’s break down the various archetypes that modern Dorinthea players are using to great effect. For those new to the hero, there is a lot of deep gameplay to a supposedly simple hero.

However, for anybody picking up the hero, it’s critical to know that paired with the right deck list, right player and appropriate testing, she can become a force in any scene. Lately however, she’s fallen into a sort of dark horse position, where her core power and ability to control games still remains, but is no where near her glory days.

Showing immense dominance throughout the years of Welcome to Rathe, Arcane Rising and Crucible of War, Warrior was the force that put fear into the hearts of players for almost three whole seasons of play. In some ways, the most classic hero figure in the game, Dorinthea, has been a fan favorite since her introduction in Welcome to Rathe.
